CVIC Introduces Vacuum-Assisted Excision Technology in Indore

The Centre for Vascular and Interventional Care (CVIC), Indore, has introduced Vacuum-Assisted Excision for the treatment of selected breast fibroadenomas. The technique offers a minimally invasive alternative to conventional open surgery in clinically suitable cases.

A fibroadenoma is a common non-cancerous breast lump, often found in younger women. Many fibroadenomas only require monitoring, but treatment may be considered when the lump grows, causes discomfort or requires removal after medical evaluation.

2–3 mm Entry PointSmall skin opening in suitable patients.
Local AnaesthesiaPerformed after clinical assessment.
Minimal DiscomfortPotentially less pain and blood loss.
Faster RecoveryMany eligible patients may go home the same day.

How the Procedure Works

Vacuum-Assisted Excision is performed with image guidance. A specialised device is introduced through a small skin opening to remove the targeted lump while preserving surrounding healthy breast tissue.

Who May Be Suitable?

This procedure is not suitable for every breast lump. Eligibility is determined after clinical examination, imaging and consultation with a qualified specialist.

CVIC Specialist Team

The procedure is offered under the evaluation and guidance of CVIC’s interventional radiology team.
